What's Happening in Coronado This Weekend: Nov 6–8, 2026

Coronado is having one of those weekends that reminds you why people fall in love with this island. The Coronado Island Film Festival is in full swing, there's live theatre, a charity gala, a Veterans Day weekend run down the Silver Strand β€” and most of it is walkable. Here's what's on:
🎬 Coronado Island Film Festival (all weekend)
The 11th annual festival runs through Sunday with 140+ films screening across the island β€” the Village Theatre, Hotel del Coronado, the library, and more. Don't miss the centerpieces: Ink on Friday at 7pm and The Debut on Saturday at 7pm, both at the Village Theatre, and closing night's Paper Tiger on Sunday at 7:30pm. Individual tickets start at $17, and Sunday morning brings two free community panels at the Coronado Public Library's Winn Room (10am and 11:30am) β€” no badge needed.
🍷 Avenue of the Stars: Scenes & Sips (Saturday, 4–6pm)
Check in at The Bower Coronado and stroll Orange Avenue for a tasting walk right in the heart of the village β€” an easy add-on before the Saturday night screenings.
🎭 Into the Woods at Coronado Playhouse (Fri–Sun)
Sondheim's classic is on stage at the Playhouse on Strand Way: Friday at 7pm, Saturday at 2pm and 7pm, Sunday at 2pm. Tickets $30.
🚢 Coronado History & Highlights Walking Tour (Friday, 2–4:30pm)
A small-group walk from the Rotary Park fountain through Coronado's architecture, historic churches, and the story of the Hotel del Coronado. $60 adults, $50 kids.
πŸƒ Silver Strand Half Marathon, 10 Miler, 12K & 5K (Sunday morning)
The Veterans Day weekend run starts at Sunset Park and finishes at Silver Strand State Beach, with the first runners off around 7:20am. Not running? The Strand is a great spot to cheer β€” just note beach parking closes early (6:45am).
🎢 Free concert at the Ferry Landing (Sunday, 1–4pm)
BlueFrog plays the weekend concert series at Coronado Ferry Landing β€” free, family-friendly, with the skyline view across the bay.
✨ Hope for the Holidays Gala (Friday, 6:30pm)
Designing Dreams' fifth annual gala at Feast and Fareway, overlooking the Coronado Golf Course β€” dinner, live music, dancing, and an auction supporting bedroom makeovers for children battling cancer.
Weekends like this are exactly why Coronado stays at the top of so many buyers' lists: a small-town main street, a world-famous hotel, and something happening every few blocks. If you're thinking about making the island home β€” or just want to talk San Diego real estate β€” I'm around.
